I have added a helpful merit badge file to our troop site. If you haven't already, go to files and check out some of them. The merit badge help/tips file is from Boy's Life and gives a brief, but thorough overview of the steps a Scout needs to follow in order to earn individual merit badges. 

All boys who are working on earning their Scout or Star Ranks are required to earn the Cyber Chip Award for their age group. The first step is for parents to read "How to Protect Your Child From Child Abuse: A Parents Guide". (Pamphlet is located in the front of the scout handbook or see attached file) Next the scout and the parent(s) need to write up an internet usage contract so the scout and the parent(s) have an agreement of what is appropriate and what is not appropriate when it comes to internet use as well as establishing clear communication regarding internet use. If you look up BSA Cyber Chip internet contract, there are a lot of useful templates online that can be used for this. The video modules for Cyber Chip can be found online at Netsmartz as well but we will also go over those at a troop meeting. The Cyberchip is supposed to be renewed annually by going online and completing two new Netsmartz modules.

Click on files on the left-hand menu, you will see a file for American Legion schedule and another for the instructions (I went over those with the Scouts several months ago). Thank you all for being aware of this service opportunity and making sure your Scout makes it to his designated Sunday.
